We have a unique opportunity to “stand in the Gap” in Uganda, but we will let Louise explain……

“My name is Dr Louise Tomlinson, I am an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist from Auckland with a special interest in Urogynaecology. I'm involved in medical aid in the Pacific and will be assisting with urogynaecology surgery in Kiribati in July 2023. I have the opportunity to join Drs Judith Goh and Hannah Krause (both Australian Urogynaeclogists) for a 2 week fistula camp in Uganda in September/October 2023. This camp will assist women who suffer from fistula. A fistula is a complication related to childbirth after a long and obstructed labour. This injury causes a connection between the bladder and vagina or between the bowel and vagina which causes a woman to have uncontrolled leakage of urine or faeces from the vagina. These women are ostracised from their communities.

Over the 2 week camp, approx 90-100 women will have surgery either for prolapse or fistula. Each surgery costs between $215-$324 which includes; their travel to and from the hospital, food and hospital costs. Judith and Hannah are supported by the HADA foundation which assists their work. ( hada.org.au) Each patient post surgery is given a large block of soap and a new set of underwear, and children are given stationary to assist with their schooling or a toy. “

In The Gap Ministries would like to sponsor at least 10 of the operations and also provide a good quantity of underwear for these women.

Would you prayfully consider joining us in this venture please.

Our Banking details can be found HERE,, let’s see if we together can change the lives of at least 10 of these women in Uganda.
