Cook Islands
THE PROJECT
Talks have begun with the Local Churches and Community for the establishment of Christian Radio throughout the Cook Islands. Initially this will be in Rarotonga but hopefully will also be extended to the Northern Group of Aitutaki and Penrhyn Islands as well.

A Broadcasting licence has now been issued for 90.3FM and the proposed name for the station is "New Life FM". Praise the Lord for this major step forward. Fund raising for needed equipment has begun, please see the progress below. Would you please consider giving to this Project? You too can be a part of the blessing.
**** Update**** (18 Jan 2016)
The original mast which we hoped to have access to is no longer available.
This means we have to make a trip up to Rarotonga and find a suitable place for a mast and antenna. We can purchase pipe materials locally and we have a suitable pipe mount antenna, we just need a suitable site.
**** Update**** (3 Feb 2016)
Phase 1 of the Cook Islands Project is completed and 90.3FM is on the Air transmitting from Matavera on the Island of Rarotonga. Praise the Lord for his goodness and please scroll down to the bottom of the page for photos from this Project.
Phase 2 will be to put up a re-broadcast transmitter on the other side of the Island, possibly behind the hospital, some time in the future as finances become available.
Phase 3 will then follow with the construction of broadcasting studios as finances, location and staff become available and trained. Please pray for this ongoing Project. After lots of discussion and getting through a few 'political' issues the name of the station is "Life FM"
****Update**** (1 July 2016)
Phase 2 is upon us. We plan mid July to return to Rarotonga and replace the low power transmitter for a very much higher powered unit to cover the main portion of the Island. We will install a Studio Transmission Link (STL) at a site close to the Hospital where we can rebroadcast on a second frequency to cover the rest of the Island, which will then give us 100% coverage for Rarotonga !

***** Update ***** (20 April 2018)
It has become very apparent that the Antennas currently being used are not suitable for the sustained salty environment. We have replacement Antennas suitable for this environment here in New Zealand ready to ship to Rarotonga but that will have to wait until finances are available to go and install this new Antenna. We are also trying to find a more suitable site for the Transmitter which will give use more coverage of the Island than we presently have.
****Update**** (1 June 2022)
A team from UCB Australia were able to go and replace a faulty transmitter and get the Cook Islands back on Air again.
A second site further around the Island has also been commissioned and so increase the coverage around the Island.

Meet those behind the Mic in training to become Broadcasters to the Cool Islands. Hopefully we will be able to build purpose built Studios for live Transmission and Pre-Recording.
