Timor-Leste

***** Update 20 October 2017 *****

Radio Voz in Dili is blessed to have excellent Broadcasting Studios and a great Transmission site just out side of the city on a high mountain top looking back over the city.

Approximately 200,000 are being reached with the Gospel 24/7 but some of the Transmitters are not functioning correctly and are in need of repair.

September 2017 saw us in Timor-Leste to carry out some of the repairs necessary and to try and increase the coverage of the station.

Below are a few shots from the Transmission site.

***** Update 20 April 2018 *****

The main Transmitter has now been replaced by a more powerful Transmitter which has increased to coverage of the station to approximately 500,000 for which we thank the Lord.

Since our last visit we have sent a lightning protection kit which has been fitted by the local guys from the station and this will help protect the high power Transmitter from lightning damage.

We are now researching where best to situate a second Transmitter to still further extend the coverage  to the south of Timor-Leste.

Transmission Site

Eager local volunteers helping by carrying heavy transmitters to the site.

Some of the local crew eager to help in any way possible.

Misaligned Antennas that were incorrectly installed. They have since been repositioned onto a much taller tower and correctly aligned.

Just about every form of transport imaginable is employed some how in Dili. Basically, what ever it takes to get people and goods from one place to another.

It seems that everyone has a motorbike

Need to shift home? Just stuff it in the back of a taxi.

Off to market with a goat !  Just throw it up top, it will be OK.

Bikes, bikes, bikes......they operate under their own rules it seems

Typical air strip for out lying towns.

The city of Dili is a thriving modern city but Market places can be found just about anywhere. Most of the rural areas will have a market where goods are sold of the back of a truck or by street vendors.

Typical street vendor trying to sell his fish.

Typical rural market place selling fruit and other produce.

Selling coconut as a lovely cool refreshing drink.

Fresh fruit ready for sale in convenient piles.

Nice fresh fruit ready to be bargained for.

In The Gap Ministries is involved in Timor-Leste assisting Radio Voz in the city of Dili to spread the Good News of the Gospel to Timor-Leste.  At the moment Radio Voz covers all of the city of Dili and now to regions beyond the city.  However, we want to cover even more of Timor with the Gospel.  So plans are under way to install relay stations to extend the coverage to other towns and cities in Timor-Leste.

Are you able to help? If you also desire to see the Gospel spread throughout Timor-Leste please contact us on our contacts page or make a donation on our donations page.
